In tailings ponds, HDPE geomembrane is used for bottom and slope anti-seepage to prevent heavy metals and other harmful substances in tailings from leaking and polluting soil and groundwater. It is widely used in tailings ponds of non-ferrous metal mines such as gold and copper mines.

In the reinforcement of tailings dams, geogrids can be laid on the dam body to enhance soil stability and resist sliding force; they can be used for mine tunnel reinforcement to increase the cohesion and friction of surrounding rocks and prevent tunnel deformation and collapse.
